There used to be a button that’s called POF username Search where you can add a username of other users and get a result by which you can visit their profile. Username search is the best way to search for the users and start the conversation with.
But now, POF has removed that service and limits to only Basic search and Advanced search. Unlike username search, these search are broad and you can search for other users by filtering their age, location, ethnic etc in basics and lot of option for filtering in advanced search. Now let us learn these in detail
POF Basic Search
In basic search function, you can search for the other users according to their ethnic, age, location, education etc. Here you’ll be using only basic terms to search and you’ll be getting a lot of results that leads to unwanted results as well.
Here, in advanced search, as the name says, its advance. There are many filters that you can work on while having a search. Remember that questionnaire that you need to fill up while creating an account on Plenty of Fish, yes you can work on that too. Overall, you can have a sharp search lowering a quantity but getting the desired quality results. Some of the filters that you can work on it is, height, religion, pets, children, hair color, drinks or not etc etc. basically all the questionnaire that you filled up while signing up.
How to search for users?
We’ve talked a lot about the types of searches in POF but how to do it? here’s the simple steps/process that you need to follow:
- Login to POF.
- From the menu bar, click on “Search“.
- Now, you’ll be redirected to the search page.
- Finally, choose the type of search you want to perform.
Advanced search works best as you can set up the filters tight and niche related. You’ll end up getting the finest results that you have potential with. Where as basic search doesn’t give the best results but if want to search for the users nearby, this is the one you can search by.
Lastly, for the local searches n US, UK, Canada and Australia, you can search with postal code or ZIP code number rather that using city names.
So, set the meters up, take a long time in planning for the advanced search and find the perfect partner.
